Governor appoints two to Ventura County Superior Court

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the appointments of Douglas W. Daily and Bruce A. Young to judgeships in the Ventura County Superior Court.
Daily, 56, of Camarillo, has served as a commissioner for the Ventura County Superior Court since 2003. Previously, he served as a senior deputy public defender for the Ventura County Public Defender’s Office from 1980 to 2003 and was a supervising attorney for Grey Law Incorporated from 1978 to 1980. Daily earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola Law School Los Angeles, a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California and an Associate of Arts degree from Moorpark College. He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Steven Hintz. Daily is a Democrat.Young, 55, of Ventura, has served as a commissioner for the Ventura County Superior Court since 2003. Previous to that, he was a deputy district attorney for the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office from 1999 to 2003 and a partner with the law firm Drescher, McConica, Onstot, Schuck & Young from 1993 to 1999. He also served as a partner in the law firm Drescher, McConica & Young from 1989 to 1993. Young earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Pepperdine University School of Law, a Bachelor of Arts degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and an Associate of Arts degree from Ventura Community College. He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Barry Klopfer. Young is a Democrat.The compensation for each position is $171,648.
