The AMA Supercross team “Wyvern Motosports” started here in Santa Paula.
Rick Davis, Scott Price and Charles Price started the team and the team now competes around the country. Most recently they were in Atlanta in the middle of a 16-round national tour. While the pro riders are on tour the younger riders continue to practice in hopes of making the pros. Davis was the team manager last year and is currently the amateur development coach for his two sons, along with a Ventura boy.His two boys, Dustin, 16 and Devin, an 8th grader at Isbell started racing at age 4 at the Piru MX Park. They’ve both raced motorcycles and quarter midget sprint cars at a fairly competitive level. The amateur program involves taking young riders that are going through the amateur national ranks and training them on the highly specialized tracks of the pro AMA Supercross series. They train on private tracks in the Piru area. The training compound has been featured on Fuel TV, current Yamaha ads and a new realty TV show, “Crusty Demons of Dirt,” as well as several magazines. Dustin and Devin are featured in a national magazine this month.
