“We conducted a high risk stop because of the vehicle being stolen, and the driver,” Belarmino Solano, 35, of Santa Paula, the vehicle’s sole occupant, was ordered out of the vehicle. “When we ordered him out of the car and he exited, a screwdriver fell from the vehicle, from his lap or wherever he had it,” and Solano was arrested at the scene without incident.Sr. Officer Smith said that the SPPD appreciates public input: “When we can get the community involved in things like this we get the job done. When the community offers tips, it is extremely helpful in locating” suspected crime breakers.Solano was transported to Ventura County Jail pending a court appearance on charges of possession of stolen property, taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and being an unlicensed driver. Sr. Officer Smith said the two charges related to the stolen vehicle are to ensure prosecution on at least one of the charges related to the “person being in possession of a stolen vehicle.”
