Some things just wouldn’t happen without some people and a person who has proven to be very important to the business and overall community was honored as the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce Member of the Month. Gene Caulfield received the honor during the April Good Morning Santa Paula! informational breakfast meeting sponsored by Soroptimist International of Santa Paula and held at Logsdon’s at the Airport.Former Chamber President Jim McCoy said April’s honor was for “someone who has dedicated a lot of time and energy to the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce and projects a great image,” for the chamber and community.Caulfield’s dedication is ongoing as well as wide-reaching, McCoy added, including driving around Santa Paula to check out potential candidates for the Yard of the Month Award, not always easy depending on area weather conditions and their affects on landscaping. Caulfield has also overseen organization of the chamber’s annual fund raising golf tournament, one of the most popular of such events in the city.
“He’s always around to help and a pleasure to work with. . .and he’s a stickler for details,” noted McCoy. “Everything Gene does reflects on the community and everything the chamber does reflects on the community. . .without Gene the chamber and the community,” would suffer, McCoy added.“I’m flabbergasted and delighted,” said Caulfield. “Everything I do for the chamber and the community is a labor of love, things I couldn’t do before,” his retirement from Limoneira Co. “Once I retired I had a really strong feeling I wanted to give back to the community,” and the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce was a perfect outlet, Caulfield added.
