assaulted but not seriously injured
Published:  December 23, 2015

Holiday shoppers were surprised Friday when a man entered an East Main Street store, “fist bumped” the clerk and then allegedly assaulted him for no apparent reason.

According to Santa Paula Police Sgt. Cody Madison the December 18 incident occurred about 1 p.m. at 935 E. Main St.

Anthony Urbano, 38, of Santa Paula, entered the store, “Gave the victim a ‘fist bump’ kind of like saying ‘hi’ then went behind the counter and started hitting the victim.”

The unidentified victim told police he did not know Urbano and Urbano did not say anything before he started hitting the victim, who sustained a bloody lip in the assault.

Madison said Urbano was arrested for fighting in public and taken to Ventura County Jail.

Both Santa Paula Fire EMTs and ambulance personnel saw the victim and Urbano but both refused any medical treatment.w
