Eura Louise Wright

Eura Louise Wright, 86, went to join many loved ones in heaven on August 30, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease and Lymphoma.

Louise was born on January 15, 1929 in Monroe, Louisiana.  In 1946 she graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe.  She married Fred Lane in 1946 (divorced in 1970) and they had three children.  She has been a Ventura County resident for 65 years.

Dance was a very big part of Louise’s life.  Known as “Miss Louise” to many students over the years starting as a student teacher in Louisiana and eventually opening her own studio in Louisiana and Mississippi in 1946.  In 1950 Louise and her family moved to California to join her sister Laura Staben. The sisters followed their dream and opened Laura Louise School of Dance with studios in Ventura, Santa Paula and Oxnard.  She taught dance to hundreds of students for 25 years, retiring in 1975.  She continued her love of dance with country line dancing and was a member of Wilson Wrangler Line Dancers and Country Lovers Line Dance Group.  However, she never gave up her love of tap dancing. She and her sister Laura were known to break out their tap shoes to perform their favorite tap number at family gatherings.

Louise also had a few other careers after retiring from dance.  She owned a KOA campground in Montpelier, Idaho, was a Century 21 Real estate agent in Ventura and owned Custom Awards and Engraving in Ventura for many years with her daughter Sharon.

Louise and her husband Hal, the love of her life for 43 years, truly enjoyed RVing, especially in their retirement.  They travelled all over the United States and were charter members of Mid Week Wanderers.  They also loved long walks near their home and could often be found on the Ventura Beach Promenade.  Louise and Hal were members of Santa Paula Presbyterian Church where they served as Deacons.

Louise was dearly love by her family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband Harold “Hal” Wright who passed away on November 14, 2014, son David A. Lane, parents Arthur Russ and Avril Butler, her brother Gene Russ and sister Polly Kelley.

Louise is survived by her son Rick Lane, daughter Sharon Groeneveld (husband Scott), stepdaughter Tamye Pearman (husband Steve), sister Laura Staben, her beloved grandchildren, Kristopher Groeneveld (wife Kirsten), Louisa Groeneveld, Bethanye Pearman, Marissa Pearman and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Louise’s family would like to thank all the staff at Treacy Villa, Ventura for providing wonderful, loving care for 2 1/2 years and Livingston Memorial hospice for helping her last days pass peacefully.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Louise’s name to Santa Paula Presbyterian Church or Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association, 1996 Eastman Ave. #101, Ventura, CA 93003.

As they loved to do everything together in life a combined memorial service will be held for Louise and her husband Hal on September 26th at 1:00 pm at Santa Paula Presbyterian Church, 121 Davis St., Santa Paula, CA 93060.
