Above: Santa Paula Firefighters taught 89 men, women and children Hands-Only CPR Thursday outside Vons grocery store (left) where people lined up for the 2-minute instruction. The effort was part of a nine venue, countywide outreach to teach CPR using the new method that does not require mouth-to-mouth breathing. Even children learned the Hands-Only CPR that is taught to the beat of the Bee Gees disco classic, “Stayin’ Alive” ironically the perfect beat for CPR. Below: Santa Paula Firefighters also taught more than 60 Cruise Nite visitors (right) Friday evening at their mini-training center at the corner of Mill and Main streets.
