One person was complained of pain following an April 16 collision that involved a vehicle that was rear-ended and then hit a tree at an apartment complex on the 200 block of South Steckel Drive.

Santa Paula Police Sgt. Jeremy Watson, the SPPD Traffic Investigator, said the collision occurred when an unidentified 75-year-old female, a resident of Santa Paula, was attempting to make a left turn from northbound Steckel Drive into an apartment complex.

Watson said the unidentified driver of the second vehicle — also a city resident — behind the woman apparently “Looked away from the roadway for a moment and when he looked up she was making the left turn,” and there was a collision.

Watson said the woman’s vehicle that was struck from behind traveled “probably another 25-feet into the apartment complex and hit the tree…we’re not sure if it was the force of the collision or she hit the gas pedal,” when the vehicle was hit from behind.

The woman complained of pain and after being treated by Santa Paula Fire EMTs and ambulance paramedics was transported by ambulance to Santa Paula Hospital.
