arrested for suspicion of intent to sell methamphetamine

A 34-year-old Santa Paula man was arrested Saturday afternoon for suspicion of possession of and the intent to sell methamphetamine, not the first time Santa Paula Police have had contact with the suspect.

According to SPPD Senior Officer Dan Potter, on March 14 at 4:45 p.m. a SPPD Officer, “Conducted a traffic stop in the area of 12th and Santa Clara streets.”

When the vehicle was stopped the officer found the driver was 29-year-old Tiffany Rivera of Thousand Oaks, and her passenger, Michael Salazar of Santa Paula.

“A search was conducted in accordance with Salazar’s probation search terms as he in on probation for narcotics violations,” and when Salazar’s person was searched, “A used methamphetamine pipe was located in his pants pocket.”

According to Potter, after searching the vehicle “two separate baggies of methamphetamine, with a combined weight of 54 grams,” just under 2 ounces, “was located on the rear passenger floor board.”

Both Rivera and Salazar were arrested for possession of narcotics and taken to SPPD for questioning. 

“It was later determined through interrogation Salazar was the primary person in possession,” and according to Potter, Rivera was questioned and later released from SPPD without charges filed. 

Salazar was charged with suspicion possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, transportation of methamphetamine, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. 

Salazar was transported to Ventura County Jail for booking for the charges and is currently in custody with $80,000 bail.

According to records, Santa Paula Police have had numerous contacts with Salazar over the years.
