The scholars of Mupu Elementary School participated in a project to drive out hunger. Scholars donated jars of peanut butter over a period of two weeks. More than 195 jars of peanut butter were collected and donated! This project was put on by the Cheesecake Factory of Thousand Oaks.

We wanted to know what motivated some of the scholars to donate peanut butter, so we went out and asked a few. Alex Garza said, “I just wanted to help, it felt like the right thing to do”. Bryan Martinez said, “I brought peanut butter because I thought it would be nice and fun”. Mrs. Winder, the teacher who put on this project said, “The peanut butter drive was successful this year because our scholars took the initiative to bring in other community support from resources like their parents and the Santa Paula Police Department”. One of our goals as a school is to partake in various community projects this year.
