Elizabeth “Betty” Taylor Spalding 

Elizabeth “Betty” Taylor Spalding, went to her final resting place on March 11, 2014. Betty was born  November 16, 1919, in Santa Paula California to Joseph and Jeannette Taylor.  She attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California majoring in music.  Betty moved to Texas for a short time,  returning to Santa Paula in the early 1980’s where she resided until her move to Springfield, Missouri in  2005 to be closer to her daughters. 

Betty was an elementary school teacher in Santa Paula California and an active member of the Methodist Church, where she helped with organizing the church soup kitchen, annual Christmas Bazaar and sang in the church choir.  Her volunteer work in Santa Paula included Meals on Wheels, Hospice, and Twin Pines, where she played the piano and sang on Sundays.  Betty was also an active member in the local DAR and Loyal Friends where she served as President in both organizations. 

Betty leaves behind her two daughters, JoAnne (Jo) Davidson (Gary) and Anne Whitefield (Briggs), granddaughters Stefanie Burkett (Jason), Cassie Holt (Keith) and Tiffany Volk (Dave) and great grandchildren, Kalel and Phoenix Holt, Nicole Volk, and step great grandchildren, Killian and Madilyn Burkett.  Also leaving behind are nieces Carolyn Rose, Michelle Taylor and nephew Christopher Taylor.

Betty will be missed by many.  Donations may be made to The American Lung or Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
