The Ventura College Opera and Musical Theatre (formerly Opera Workshop) in collaboration with the Ventura College Dance Department will present A CHORUS LINE.

The Ventura College Opera and Musical Theatre (formerly Opera Workshop) in collaboration with the Ventura College Dance Department will present A CHORUS LINE. The musical opens on April 8 and runs two weekends: Fridays and Saturday, April 8, 9, 15, 16 at 8:00 p.m., Sundays, April 10, 17 at 2:00 p.m. with an added performance on Thursday, April 14 at 8 p.m. in the Ventura College Theater. The final dress rehearsal on Thursday, April 7 at 8:00 p.m. will be free for all students.A CHORUS LINE will be directed by Mel Swope. The winner of two Golden Globe Awards, Swope directed last year’s sold out run of West Side Story at Ventura College. Producer-Director of the award winning television series “Fame” for NBC, he has received four Emmy Award nominations, one Humanitas Prize nomination, two NAACP Image Award nominations, and two MPSE Golden Reel Awards.Other production staff members include Ventura College faculty members Becky Contreras as choreographer, Linda Ottsen as Producer, Dr. Burns Taft as Musical Director and Conductor, and Abra Paudler as costume designer. Kathi O’Donahue is lighting designer.From a field of 100 auditioners, 25 were chosen for the cast. Cast members come from Ventura, Oxnard, Santa Paula, Camarillo and San Fernando. They include Shaun Cozzens as Zach, Kenny Larsen as Larry, Amanda Aquino as Cassie, Yolanda Faggin as Sheila, Claire Culver as Val, Melora Hutton as Diana, Nina Reed as Judy, Melanie Silva as Kristine, Abigail Collins as Maggie, Erin Hewitt as Bebe, Marissa Lakandula as Connie, Rebecca Adams as Vicki, Kristen Jones as Tricia, Jessica Mayorga as Lois, Jonathan Scott as Mike, Masio Winston as Richie, Todd Faurot as Don, Aaron Manuyag as Paul, Daniel Beale as Mark, Tari Mannello as Greg, Matthew Marineau as Bobby, Robert Beneteau as Al, Damian Servin As Frank, Benjamin Ginsberg as Butch, and Albert Perez as Roy.
