Eleven Santa Paulans run in Sunday’s L.A. Marathon

There were 11 people from Santa Paula running in last Sunday’s L.A. Marathon, ranging in age from 15 to 59 years of age.

The oldest runner, Salvador Gomez, has been a resident of Santa Paula for 33 years.  He immigrated here from Jalisco, Mexico.  He started running through the local orchards and then started running marathons.  This was his 9th run and his 6th time to participate in the L.A. Marathon.  Other runs he’s taken part in include “hearts Hustle” and the Hearst Castle Marathon.

Gomez completed the 26-mile run Sunday in 4:13:23.  This placed him 95th out of 667 runners in the 55-59 Division.

Other Santa Paula runners were: Kurt Baron, 45; Armando Casimiro, 45; Mary Orellana, 50; Regina Orellana, 15; Jesus Pena, 25; Tawnee Pena, 25; Michelle Phillips, 36; Francisco Ramirez, 47; Matt Reeder, 38 and Steven Rodriguez, 20.
