Entries are being sought for the 56th annual Optimist Christmas Parade, which will be held Saturday, November 26th, at 10:00 a.m. on Main Street in Santa Paula. The theme for this year is “A Family Christmas.”

The parade is for the entire community and everyone in the community is invited to participate in the parade, by watching or being a parade entry. Any type of entry is welcome and everyone is asked to join the fun. There are only six judged categories and a VIP non-judged category. The purpose of the parade is to get the community of Santa Paula together to celebrate the holiday season.

Float entries are being sought. Community groups, families, and organizations are encouraged to put together a float. A flatbed truck or trailer, a pickup, a wagon, or any other equipment with wheels work well as a float. This may also include families, friends, businesses, cars, equestrians, and marching groups. Get dressed up or decorated and join the fun. Entertain the community.

A sweepstakes trophy will be given for the best use of the theme. In addition, 1st and 2nd place trophies will be presented for entries in : Novelty-Youth, Novelty-Adult, Marching Group/Drill Team, Float, Auto, and Equestrian. Entry forms are available for pick up at the Recreation Department, the Santa Paula Times office, the Chamber of Commerce office, and the Video Arcade. For additional information, or an entry form sent by mail, please call 525-9439.

The Optimist Club organizes and sponsors the Christmas Parade using community donations. If you are interested in donating, please mail a check to the Santa Paula Optimist Club, P.O. Box 507, Santa Paula, CA 93061.
