The fourth annual National Day of Prayer Community Breakfast is scheduled for Thursday, May 6 at 7 a.m. at the Community Center.
The fourth annual National Day of Prayer Community Breakfast is scheduled for Thursday, May 6 at 7 a.m. at the Community Center. The event is sponsored by the SPIRIT of Santa Paula®.
The theme for 2004 is “Let Freedom Ring” and the program will feature speakers whose lives have been changed as the result of near-death experiences and prison terms. One keynote speaker is Craig Lorick, a lay pastor from Lancaster who missed a pro-football career due to some bad choices; a prison term brought him close to God.
Another featured speaker is Tino Rico, who survived one of Ventura County’s worst boating accidents off the Coast of Channel Islands, after facing life in the California Youth Authority and serving time in three different prisons on his journey to finding God. His biography has been published and it is called “Go Hard into the Wind and Waves," authored by Barbara Perrier. His story was featured on a Discovery TV special on hypothermia.
The third speaker is Chaplain Pam Scott, who serves as chaplain in a women’s prison. Her story of hope will encourage everyone.
Worship time begins at 6:30 a.m. led by the Worship Team at Citrus Valley Christian Church and the popular musical group Inspirit. The morning will include a catered breakfast and prayers will be offered by local lay leaders. Sponsorships are also available.
