Soph/frosh wrestlers compete at Pacifica
9th and 10th grade members of the Santa Paula Wrestling team competed in the recent Triton Frosh Tournament at Pacifica High School.
The Cardinals had three wrestlers who finished in the top four of theirrespective weight classes and earned medals. Sophomore Bobby Castillo was the champion in the 115-pound weight class and went undefeated at 4-0. Castillo won all of his matches by pin fall on his way to securing the gold medal.
Sophomore John Garza was 3-1 and earned a second place finish in the 134pound weight class. All 3 of his wins were by pin fall. Freshman Matthew Ramirez earned a 4th place medal and had a record of 3-2 for the day in the 122-pound weight class. Sophomore Adan Ramos (134 lbs.) finished the day at 2-2, freshmen Jose Alcala (172 lbs.), Rodolfo Ponce (126 lbs.)and Isaac Veloz (162 lbs.) were 0-2.
