McCarthy, La Cabana, and Shock all cruised to easy victories this past weekend. El Rio battled back from early deficit scoring 2 runs in the ninth to win 8-7 over the Santa Paula All Stars, the final run scoring on a high chopper through the left side of the infield off the bat of John Mosqueda. Jim Colborn Baseball League season nearing a conclusion

The semi-final matchups are now all set for the Jim Colborn Baseball League. Both games will be played at St Bonaventure high school baseball field this Sunday August 8th. In the opener at 1:30 pm, The Shock managed by former Ventura County great and big leaguer Dave Patterson, will take on former LA Dodger Brent Cookson’s La Cabana squad. The Shock finished the year as the number 1 seed with an 8 - 1 record. They are led by Ventura County stars, Brandon Carr, Jared Patterson and Scott McNally. Their pitching staff is led by collegian Anthony Martinez who finished the year with a 3.48 ERA. La Cabana is led by the hitting of Adam Berry, Austin Mascarro, Joe Luna and former Camarillo High and collegian Mike Sliger. All County performer, David Barroso leads the pitching staff and the league with a 1.93 ERA.

In the nightcap at 4:30 pm McCarthy Companies Brewers managed by Rocky Hall take on the El Rio Hawks who are managed by Osvaldo Trevino and Frank Tinoco. Both teams finished the year 7 - 2. The Brewers are led by the league co-batting champion Jake Mahan, R.J. Dietz and all county performer Tim Lesuer. Their pitching staff consists of County greats Nathan Roth, Jon Woodcock and Taylor Hanson form Camarillo High who was just clocked at over 90 mph in a recent game. The El Rio squad is led by the co batting champion and Westmont University player, Jacob Regalado, Ray Ray Garcia, Mark Magdaleno and Zac Anderson. Their pitching staff is led by the league wins and strikeout leader Kyle Stocker and  Jacob Regalado.

In the consolation game being played at 10:00 am at Villanova High School, Oxnard Crushers take on Billy Doctors.  The final week of the Jim Colborn Baseball League will be August 15th and will feature a 10:00 am all star game followed by the championship game between the winner of the August 8th semi-finals.
