Are you enjoying your garden?

August is the time to just sit in your yard with a cool drink and admire the results of your hard work. Soon enough Autumn will be upon us with new garden opportunities.

The Ventura County Master Gardeners invite you to  maximize your opportunities by attending the next full day workshop, “Autumn in the Garden,” held at the beautiful University of California Hansen Agricultural Center (also known as the Faulkner Farm) in Santa Paula. The workshop, scheduled for August 14, is the third in a year-long series of “Mastering Your Home Garden Workshops” hosted by the Master Gardeners.

These full-day workshops present the expertise of Master Gardeners in a lecture and hands-on learning format. There will be opportunity to ask questions, solve problems, and expand gardening knowledge in a beautiful farm setting as well as explore the demonstration and themed gardens of the Hansen Trust. The gardens in summer are well worth the visit.

The topics for “Autumn in the Garden” are Waterwise Gardening, Beauty of Bulbs, Gardening with California Natives and Tasks for the Autumn Gardener. The registration fee of $50 per person includes two morning and two afternoon presentations, continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, and chance to win several beautiful door prizes. Additionally, attendees will have access to the exclusive Master Gardener plant sale and (weather permitting) tours of the historic Queen Anne Victorian Faulkner Farm house.
