The second item related to the issue will tackle the appeal of the applicant for the Planning Commission’s decision to sustain building, official action related to the change in the property’s use. The issue has been a lingering one: city staff was instructed by the council to work with the applicant to resolve the issues, but the commission ultimately rejected the application. To beat a city deadline the council called an emergency meeting to approve the filing of the applicant’s petition, an act that eliminated the associated appeal fees.
The council’s final item will be the February report of city revenues and expenditures; the council had been receiving regular reports on the city’s strained finances since last year. Although Finance Director John Quinn has told the council the city is holding its own in tough economic times, next fiscal year will probably be worse with more state takeaways and an continued almost halt to other revenues such as building permit fees.
City Hall is located at 970 E. Ventura Street.
