A Santa Paula woman was arrested for suspicion of driving while under the influence after a head-on traffic collision Sunday on Ojai Road near Stonegate in the northern section of the city.

According to Santa Paula Police Lieutenant Troyce Reynolds, the collision occurred March 7 at 3 p.m. “Santa Paula officers responded to the area of Ojai Road and Stonegate for an injury traffic collision” that they found upon arrival involved two vehicles, a Jeep Cherokee and a Toyota Sequoia.

Officers determined that Michele Ming, 49, of Santa Paula, was driving a 1993 Jeep Cherokee northbound on Ojai Road when, for an unknown reason, she crossed into the southbound lane. Ming’s vehicle struck a southbound 2003 Toyota Sequoia head on, driven by 30-year-old Lauren Rodriguez of Santa Paula.

Santa Paula Fire EMTs and AMR Ambulance paramedics also responded to the scene. Reynolds said, “There were minor injuries,” cuts, abrasions and complaint of pain to both Ming and Rodriguez, as well as a to a child riding in Rodriguez’s vehicle.

Ming, noted Reynolds, was “subsequently arrested” for suspicion of driving under the influence. The collision remains under investigation.
