“We’re still looking at various locations and haven’t made a final decision yet,” but Winsayer said the company hopes to launch facility planning in the beginning of 2010.An alternative energy provider, CWP has been working with the Ventura County Workforce Investment Board on training programs and Winsayer noted that “Some of the (federal) stimulus money will be coming to Santa Paula … I think Santa Paula should take advantage to promote the city” to those who would be CWP suppliers, among others.“We put in a lot of time, energy and due diligence” in selecting Santa Paula, a process that Winsayer said took about a year.“I think the city should strike while the iron is hot, show the benefits of coming to Santa Paula,” especially as CWP suppliers are “looking to expand … we would love it if our suppliers were in Santa Paula.”Federal stimulus funding should also be on the city’s radar for city-company partnerships, especially those promoting employment in green energy manufacturing.Without going into detail, Winsayer said another revenue source for the city could be through energy sales and CPW would be interested in discussing alternative energy with area schools.Overall, “We’re really happy we chose Santa Paula … everyone here demonstrated a positive attitude; that was one of the key reasons we chose Santa Paula,” for Continental Wind Power’s operations.

Continental Wind Power has opened its office, the first step for the mid-size turbine company in making Santa Paula its headquarters and manufacturing center.
By Peggy KellySanta Paula TimesContinental Wind Power has opened its office, the first step for the mid-size turbine company in making Santa Paula its headquarters and manufacturing center.CWP President Jim Winsayer told the City Council at the August 17th meeting “We opened our office in Santa Paula officially last week,” at 732 East Main Street.“The main purpose of the office is two-fold,” recruiting and planning for the production facility.Winsayer said the first step would be hiring a human resources specialist and “If you know someone” they can contact the company at careers@continentalwindpower.com“We hope to have someone hired in the next couple of weeks” to oversee hiring as “we ramp up” over the next couple of years.Manufacturing will launch in Santa Barbara where supervisory staff will be trained and Winsayer said the search is still on for a property to hold the company’s production facility.
