Growing up in Korea
February 04, 2009
Santa Paula News
Girl Scout Troop 60776 recently had Jeon-Sook Guerrera as a guest at a troop meeting speaking to the girls about growing up in Korea. She wore a traditional Hanbok outfit and brought her toddler son, Brandon, also in traditional Korean clothing.
Our troop has chosen South Korea for our country for World Thinking Day at the end of February. Thinking Day is a special day in the Girl Scout year to remember that Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. is part of an international movement. Celebrated every year on or about February 22, the joint birthday of the late Lord Baden-Powell, founder of Boy Scouts, and his wife Lady Baden-Powell, on this day Girl Guides and Girl Scouts all over the world take a moment to think about their sisters in the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and to send them greetings. Each of the troops in the Heritage Valley chooses a different country each year to represent. We all get together and share what we learned with the other troops. This celebration is one of the highlights of the year for Santa Paula Girl Scouts.
