The Ag Art Alliance is pleased to announce that the Limoneira Company, a leader in Ventura County agriculture for over 100 years, has donated a $1,000 purchase prize for the 2nd Annual Art About Agriculture exhibit.

The Ag Art Alliance is pleased to announce that the Limoneira Company, a leader in Ventura County agriculture for over 100 years, has donated a $1,000 purchase prize for the 2nd Annual Art About Agriculture exhibit.Additional prize money from individuals and other agricultural businesses will add to this Limoneira Prize to support artists working in the field of agricultural art.Art About Agriculture is an agricultural art exhibit which will be held September 6th – November 16th at the City of Santa Paula’s California Oil Museum, 1001 E. Main Street, Santa Paula. The purpose of the exhibit is to promote Art About Agriculture by exploring all the facets of agriculture from workers to water, from machinery to soil and to the food that goes on our plates.Art About Agriculture is open to all artists over the age of 18 working in both two and three dimensional media who create art that in some way draws its inspiration from our agricultural heritage and/or contemporary agriculture. That inspiration may include, but is not limited to, depictions of rural landscape, farm animals, farm products, rural life, or art that in a more abstract way deals with issues and ideas related to agriculture.All styles of work are considered: painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, mixed media, ceramics, batik, metals, and tapestry. Artists may enter a maximum of 3 works. Work should not exceed 150 pounds and the size limit is 36” x 48”. Wall hung work must be framed and ready for hanging.
Works on paper should be glazed. Selection will be made from digital images emailed to the Ag Art Alliance at agartalliance@gmail.com or sent by mail to P.O. Box 268, Santa Paula, CA 93061 (include return postage). Include name, contact information, medium, titles, sizes, and prices. Mailed submissions can be on a CD with 1-3 images (300 PPI, and no larger than 1600 x 1600 or 5MB), 35 mm slides, or 8” x 10” color computer printouts. No PowerPoint or similar presentations. Images must be received by July 15, 2008.Work does need to be for sale to be eligible for the exhibit. The Ag Art Alliance and the California Oil Museum receive a 35% commission on all sales.If you are mailing your art submission please include a non-refundable processing fee of $30. If you are emailing your submission please send the processing fee by mail. No submissions will be viewed until the processing fee is received. The fee covers the submission of up to 3 images. Make checks and money orders payable to the Ag Art Alliance.Submission of a digital image by an artist constitutes agreement for the Ag Art Alliance to reproduce art work for catalog, publicity, website and educational purposes unless otherwise specified by the artist. All artists submitting work for consideration will receive a copy of the catalog.
