The Head Start/State Preschool Program in Ventura County is currently accepting applications for 3 and 4-year-old children from income eligible families for the next school year.

The Head Start/State Preschool Program in Ventura County is currently accepting applications for 3 and 4-year-old children from income eligible families for the next school year. Full day, part day and home base options are available.The free high quality preschool program provides a nurturing environment to help children grow mentally, socially, emotionally and physically. They gain self-confidence, develop good health habits and learn many skills that prepare them for kindergarten. Health services, parent workshops and social services are provided as part of the program. Children with disabilities are included in all parts of the program. Free nutritious meals are offered through the sponsorship of the California Child Care Food Program.Children who attend preschool have greater success in school and throughout their lives. The benefits of preschool include higher reading and math scores, higher graduation rates from both high school and college and higher employment earnings.
The Head Start/State Preschool program, under the administration of Child Development Resources of Ventura County, Inc. (CDR), receives Federal and State funding to serve 1,066 children in 25 centers, 7 home base groups and some family child care homes throughout Ventura County.Parents should apply now for first selection on July 6th.
