VRSD 2005 chairman appointed

The Ventura Regional Sanitation District (VRSD) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Rick Cook, representative of the City of Santa Paula, was named VRSD Chairman of the Board. Cook has served on the Santa Paula City Council since 1998. Prior to that, he served on the City’s Planning Commission (1993-1998). Cook has been on the VRSD Board since 2003. James Acosta, the representative from Ventura County Special Districts, was selected as chairman-elect. The Board also includes City Council members David Bury (Ojai), Charlotte Craven (Camarillo), Dennis Gillette (Thousand Oaks), Jim Monahan (San Buenaventura), Jonathan Sharkey (Port Hueneme), Ken Smedley (Fillmore), and John Zaragoza (Oxnard).As a public agency, VRSD assures environmentally safe disposal of solid waste, the effective treatment of wastewater and the reliable delivery of potable water at reasonable costs. The District provides services to local water and wastewater agencies and operates the county’s publicly owned landfill. VRSD has won international acclaim for innovation and excellence. Most recently, the agency won the 2004 Honor Award for Excellence in Environmental Engineering from the American Association of Environmental Engineers.
