Boys finish season with win over Oaks Christian

The Cardinal varsity basketball team closed out regular season play with a 63-47 victory over Oaks Christian. That win put them in second place in the Frontier League. The Cards host Servite, an Anaheim parochial school, tonight at 7:30 p.m. Santa Paula ended the season with an 8-16 overall record and 5-3 in league play. Servite was 13-13 and1-5 in Sierra League action.The Cardinal varsity beat Oaks Christian Thursday night. Bubba Maynard led in scoring with 20 points, including five 3-pointers. Nene Alamillo had 15 points for the Cards.The Santa Paula frosh lost a real close contest to Oaks Christian 56-53. Ben Kolbeck led the Cardinals with 19 points. Hugo Guevara had nine points, Sergio Alamillo shot for eight, Dimas Vigil had seven, Kevin Rodriguez had six and Ramon Castillo shot four points.
The Cardinal JV also had a squeaker, losing to the Lions 66-64. Johnny Urrutia led the way with 16 points. Daniel Cardoza recorded 16, Travis Marella had 12 points, Ernesto Guzman had 10, Nick Pulido shot for nine and Julian Gonzalez had two points.
