A Santa Paula man is recovering from stab wounds he received last week in an attack that occurred in the backyard of his South 8th Street home, according to a SPPD spokesman.

Gary Marshall said that Joe Vasquez, 47, was stabbed Wednesday, July 28 shortly after 11 p.m. in the backyard of his home located on the 300 block of South 8th Street.Det. Joey de los Reyes said that officers were summoned on a call of an ill subject being at the residence but upon arrival at the scene they found that Vasquez had been stabbed “multiple times” in the upper chest area.“Although several people at the scene were questioned, there are no suspects at this time,” Sgt. Marshall noted Friday.Vasquez said he “Didn’t know anything,” about the attack or his attacker, said Det. de los Reyes.
Vasquez was transported to Ventura County Medical Center where he was hospitalized for his injuries.The investigation into the attack is continuing, said Det. de los Reyes.Anyone with information is asked to call Det.
