Jill Johnson’s preparing for recital

Dancers at Jill Johnson’s Dance Studio have been working very hard lately, preparing for their annual recital. The recital showcases all levels of dance, from the littlest of the studio dancers to intermediate and advanced level class, as well as several numbers performed by Jill Johnson Company Dancers. This year’s recital, “A Journey of the Sole,” will feature over 30 numbers, varying in style from ballet to tap and jazz. Solo performances include Jill Johnson ballet instructor Sylvia Rico, and guest soloist, master class instructor Joelle Martinec.Sylvia Rico was a soloist in Phantom Opera in Los Angeles, and a former professional ballerina with the Houston Ballet, Long Beach Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet. In addition to traveling across the U.S. and teaching with Tremaine conventions, Joelle Martinec also tours and performs across the world with Liz Imperios Dance Company, Instincts.The recital will be held June 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Oxnard Civic Auditorium, 800 Hobson Way, Oxnard. Tickets are available at Jill Johnson’s Dance Studio, 811 W. Telegraph Rd., Santa Paula, 525-3187. Cost is $12 for advance tickets and $15 at the door.
