Eugene Elwood “Gene” Tyler Eugene Elwood “Gene” Tyler, 78, of Santa Paula, passed away February 20, 2003 in Ventura.Gene was born June 26, 1924 in Marion, Kansas to Wilbur and Laura Tyler. He lived in Ventura County for over 55 years, served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and worked for Limoneira Ranch for more than a quarter of a century.Gene loved to go to church, play shuffleboard, spoil his grandchildren, and watch “his” Angels play baseball. He and his late wife, Frankie, loved to travel and together they visited every state in the union.Gene was engaged to be married to Patricia Welty of Fillmore. Pat put the sparkle back in Gene’s eyes.Gene is survived by his beloved son Scott of Bakersfield; sisters, Thelma Coker of Topock, Arizona, Helen Campbell of Forsythe, Missouri, and Corrinne Kidd of Lincoln, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Frankie Lee Tyler; beloved son Larry Gene Tyler; and brother, Jack Tyler.
A graveside service was held February 25 at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Walpole officiating.Arrangements under the direction of Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary, Santa Paula.
