Mupu Elementary School spelling bee finalists

Mupu Elementary School is proud to announce the school’s finalists for the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee. In first place is eighth grader Lindsay Shield. The second place winner and alternate is seventh grader Brittany Daniels. For the first time, a second grader made it to the final round and became the third place winner. Second grader Codi Whittaker was able to outlast 30 other students who were competing in the spelling bee. Lindsay will compete in the Santa Paula Area competition on February 28 at 9 a.m. at Blanchard Elementary School. Brittany and Codi will also attend the Santa Paula Area competition to support Lindsay. Congratulations to these spellers and to all students who competed in this event. Photo by Brian D. Wilson
