Santa Paula High School Cardinals (8-4) ended their season with a CIF loss to St. Bonaventure (12-0)...50-0... in the second round of CIF Football Playoffs Friday night at Jones Field. The Cardinals were outplayed throughout the game and never were able to get untracked. Chad Metelak, starting quarterback for the Cardinals, was tackled for a safety early in the game and was removed from the game with an injury and never returned. Halftime score was 36-0 and immediately added 14 more early in the third quarter before turning the game over to reserves. Santa Paula threatened to score late in the fourth quarter but was turned away on a fourth down play from the 8 yard line.
