The annual appreciation dinner for “Las Guadalupanas was held at El Pescador restaurant on Wednesday, January 22. Anita Nava is the president of the 50-plus active members who worked all year raising money for the church by preparing their famous chicken mole dinners, and selling handmade embroidery and miscellaneous items for Mother’s Day and Christmas. The group gathered for recognition of their hard work, and invited Fr. James to accept presentation of a check in the amount of $4,000. It took them two years to raise this money, which is being donated specifically for the construction of the convent of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Oak Street. Photo by Don Johnson
