Richard Mata 

On October 21st 2015, Richard Mata went home to his Dad and Brother after battling a long, exhausting illness.

Richard, a life-long Santa Paula resident, proudly served his country in Vietnam as part of the 4th Infantry Division Recon and later retired from the United States Postal Service. 

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved watching sports. He also enjoyed coaching Little League, which he did for over 20 years. He will be greatly missed and was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his Mother Mary E. Mata, his siblings Mickie, Leonard, Tony, Henry, Peter and Belen. His children Raquel, Richard II, Julie, Joseph and Michael. His grandchildren Mario, Issac, Monique, Whitney, Danny, Diego, Lorin, Skylar, Zane, Emma, Joey, Taliya, Sophie and Roman. His great-grandchildren  Leilani and Ilijah.

“Say Goodnight Dick”

 Visitation will be held from 12pm-5pm, Thursday October 29, 2015 at Church of Angels, 600 E. Pleasant Street, Santa Paula followed with the recitation of the rosary at 7:00pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 427 N. Oak Street, Santa Paula.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, Friday, October 30, 2015 also at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Charles Lueras, C.R.I.C. officiating. Committal and Interment will follow at Santa Paula Cemetery.
