A Santa Paula Police Officer’s electronic device was lost at a chaotic crime scene Monday and a $100 reward is being offered for its return.

“The Santa Paula Police Department is requesting the assistance of the community,” in locating and returning the device according to Sgt. Jeremy Watson.

The device was left at the scene of a May 19 mid-day stabbing attack that seriously injured a man in the area of 7th and East Main streets.

When police arrived they found the victim lying on East Main Street; Santa Paula Fire EMTs and ambulance paramedics treated the man before he was transported to the Ventura County Hospital Trauma Unit with a severe arm wound.

The lost device said Watson, “Had to be somewhere on Main Street,” which was closed to traffic during the emergency response and investigation.

Watson said there is a $100 reward for the return of the device although, “It’s an actual crime to retain found property and anybody in possession of it can be charged with a crime.”

In the case of the missing equipment, “Basically there’s no question asked... if you found and picked up the device come to the police department,” located at 214 S. 10th St. to return it, “and we’ll hook you up with $100.”

If you have any information on the whereabouts of the device contact Watson at 805-525-4474 ext. 187.
