Lady Cards tied for first place after win over St. Bonaventure

The Lady Cardinal varsity softball team defeated visiting St. Bonaventure Tuesday, 3-2.

With the win the Lady Cardinals are tied for the league Championship against the Seraphs with three games left in the regular season.

Miranda Magana pitched a complete 7-inning game, giving up only 3 earned hits and 5 strikeouts with AJ Payne behind the plate. 

The first team to score was St. Bonaventure in the 5th inning with 2 unearned runs on Santa Paula errors. The Lady Cardinals fought back starting in the 6th inning when Payne hit a big 2 out triple and Marissa Ramos coming through with a single and the first Santa Paula RBI.

Samantha Rodriguez hit a lead off Double to start the bottom half of the seventh inning, she moved over to third base off a sacrifice bunt from Paula Laureano.  With Rodriguez on third Alyia Alamillo came up to bat and hit a 1-out triple to score the tie run. Felicia Magana finished the game with a sacrifice RBI to give the Lady Cardinals there third run and a victory over the Seraphs.  

Top Santa Paula batters: AJ Payne went 1 for 2 with a triple and a run scored. Alyia Alamillo went 1 for 4 with a triple, a run scored and an RBI. Samantha Rodriguez went 1 for 3 with a Double and a run scored. Marissa Ramos went 1 for 3 with a single and a run scored. 

The team record is16-4 (league 6-1).
