The Cardinal boys soccer team beat Bellflower 2-0 in first round of CIF Division 4 playoffs Friday.

That win gives the boys a second round game today at 5:00 p.m. at Hart High School in Santa Clarita.

Five minutes into the game Giovanni Acosta beat a defender on the end line and crossed it to an open Eric Salgado who beat the goalie. Five minutes later, Randy Mendoza took a free kick that sailed over the last defender. Javier Aguilar ran onto the end of it and scored. Although both teams had other chances, neither team managed to score the rest of the game. Emanuel Hernandez played well defensively and Jose Gomez and Pedro Magana played well in the midfield.

Coach Brian Blevins said, “I think a lot of the guys were nervous but we brought experience from last year.”
