The Cardinal JV boys easily handled Oaks Christian with a 5-0 win last week. Goals were scored by Diego Tinajero, Justin Jimenez, Oscar Cancino, Mario Moreno, and Humberto Garcia. Francisco Castro and Danny Montoya played well in the midfield.

In the varsity game Oaks Christian scored the first goal in the first 10 minutes off a throw in. Five minutes later Oaks capitalized on a bad pass from the defense and scored another goal. The Cards missed five chances including two that went off the post. Final score was 2-0 for Oaks Christian.

The varsity record is now 9-4-3 overall and 5-1-1 in league play.

On Friday Santa Paula traveled to Malibu in a tri-valley league match

Both sides had many chances at the beginning of the JV game. It wasn’t until the second half when a ball was rolling across the top of the box and Jorge Magana made a great left foot shot into the top corner. Gabriel Mendoza and Fernando Magana played well defensively. Final score was 1-0 for the Cardinals.

Malibu scored within the first 10 minutes of the varsity game when a ball came rolling across the box and a player shot the ball into the top corner. Before the first half ended, David Arana made a long pass into the penalty box and Luis Partida beat the keeper by heading the ball in. In the second half, Malibu score a goal off a throw in when one of their tallest players, beat the goalkeeper and headed it in. Five minutes later, Malibu added a second goal when another player headed the ball in off a cross. Santa Paula lost 3-1.

The Cards host Carpinteria today, starting at 4:30 p.m.  This is the final regular season game of the season.
