The JV held off the visiting Carpinteria Warriors until the second quarter Friday.

That’s when Carpinteria got the first of three touchdowns in the first half.  The Cards forced the Warriors to turn over the ball on the Santa Paula 1-yard line on a fourth down, but they couldn’t convert that into a score.

In the second quarter it was all Carpinteria’s game.  They scored on all but one possession, ending the half with a 20-0 lead.

The Warriors took the kickoff at the start of the third quarter and got a TD on 9 plays.  Ubaldo Castro blocked their extra point attempt.  The Cards tried to make headway but they were forced to punt on every possession.

The fourth quarter was much the same with the Warriors getting two more touchdowns.

Coach Justin Schmidt said, “I am very proud of the way our boys continue to give it their all despite being a little short handed.  We have had a number of players moved up to the varsity team, and while it definitely impacts the JV team, we are proud of the fact that we prepared these young men to go to the next level and contribute.  We are looking to finish strong this week against Nordhoff.”

The JV plays at Nordhoff at 4:30 Friday.
