Professional boxing is coming to Ventura County this month.

Several Ventura County boxers will be in the ring, including Indian Banuelos of Santa Paula who will make his professional debut. He will meet up with Jose Garcia (0-4) of Bakersfield in a four round super bantamweight bout.  Banuelos is 18 years old and been boxing since he was a young boy, first competing in the ring at the age of 7. His amateur record is 50-7 as a super bantamweight. “I’ve always wanted to be a pro since an early age,” he said.  He said he’s always looked up to Sugar Ray Leonard and Floyd Mayweather is all-time favorite fighter.  He said that fighting professionally is “What I’ve been waiting for.”

The 7-bout card is set to take place February 25 at the Oceanview Pavilion in Port Hueneme.  El Dorado Entertainment is presenting the seven-bout card. Armando Renteria, who owns El Dorado Mexican restaurant in downtown Oxnard said,  “I’m promoting this because it’s a necessity. We are the boxing capital of the west coast. I believe I’m the best man for the job of putting on this show.”

Renteria stated that the following fighters verbally confirmed to him that they will attend the card: Sergio Martinez, Brandon Rios, Victor Ortiz, Fernando Vargas, Miguel Angel Garcia, James Toney, and Lupe Aquino, who was the first world champion from Ventura County.

A match up between Oxnard fighter Jose Aguiniga and Juan Ruiz will be the headline fight of the event.  Aguiniga (31-0) has not been in the ring since winning a decision over Joe Morales in 2007.
