Lady Cardinal JV & varsity out-shoot visiting San Marcos

The Lady Cardinal varsity basketball team won a 51-28 shoot-out against visiting San Marcos Tuesday.

Santa Paula played well, outscored San Marcos 14-10 in the first, 8-3 in the second to take a 22-13 lead into the half.

In the 3rd quarter, Santa Paula  out-shot San Marcos 13-10 to lead 35-23, then in the 4th Santa Paula outscored San Marcos 16-5 to win.

A great defensive effort throughout the game was shown by the Lady Cards. 

Leading the way for Santa Paula were: Elissa Rico, 5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals; Lizzette Ramirez, 3 rebounds, 4 steals; Danya Zizumbo, 10 points, 3 steals1 rebound; Monica Castanon, 3 points, 1 rebound, 2 steals; Felicia Magana, 11 points, 2 rebounds, 5 steals, 1 block; Mariah Dominquez, 2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal; Lupita Ramirez, 7 points, 2 rebounds; Cyerra Vasquez, 2 points, 1 rebound; Miranda Magana, 7 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals; Kayla Stockton, 4 points, 1 rebound.  Santa Paula’s Record is now 3-3.

The Santa Paula JV started out the evening with a 49-19 rout of the visitors.  Vanessa Chavez and Sierra Blair both had 15 points, Marissa Ramos had 8.

The girls host Fillmore Monday.  The JV game is set for 5:00 p.m. and the varsity game starts at 6:30 p.m.
