S.P. Chamber calls annual golf tourney a success

Some 34 teams, made up of 134 golfers teed off last week in the annual Santa Paula CHamber of Commerce Golf Tournament, held at the Mountain View Golf Course. The first place winners for the day, at 13 under par and a score of 56, were “The Monroe Money Makers,” made up of Monroe Washington, Scottie Wells, Andy Hanchett and Vinnie Marrero. The second place team, “PW Environmental,” came in at 12-under. The team members were Bill Jordan, Rick Taylor, Daryl Rogers and Vince Jiminez. Third place went to the Car Quest team, made up of Paul Miller, Bob Wenderoth, Mike Worley and Mike Vlahos, with 11-under par.No one made a hole-in-one to win either of the new vehicles, but Michael Snow did win a 1986 Chevrolet Celebrity for being closest to the hole on number-18.Other contest winners included: Rocky Manzano for the men’s longest drive; Suzanne Pastintino for the ladies longest drive; the most accurate drives on the number-9 fairway were won by Jerry Perry for the men and Rhonda Kelly for the women. The nine-hole putting contest was taken by Chuck Whitlock with a score of 14.
The golfers, BBQ guests and volunteers shared in a plethora of raffle prizes after the tourney. Tournament Chairman Gene Caulfield and Master of Ceremonies Jim McCoy expressed their thanks to the 30 corporate sponsors, 16 sign supporters, the Chamber Golf Committee, Mountain View Golf Course and all the volunteers, including the Santa Paula High School Golf Team, as well as Cheerleaders.
