Two SPHS football players commit to colleges
Two of last season’s SPHS varsity football players have committed to play for college teams.
Santa Paula High School Senior offensive lineman Jeremy Welch has committed to play football at Wilmington College in Ohio. Jeremy as a senior was selected as a team captain, named 2nd team 2010 All-Tri-Valley League and Frontier League honorable mention as a junior. He was also awarded the 2010 lineman of the year for the Santa Paula High School football team. Welch chose Wilmington College over Dordt College and Delaware Valley College.
Santa Paula High School Senior defensive lineman Ramiro Rico has committed to play football at La Verne University. During his senior year he recorded 28 tackles, 6 sacks, and forced 3 fumbles. Ramiro as a senior was selected as a team captain and was selected 2010 Honorable Mention for Tri-Valley League. Ramiro chose La Verne University over Pomona-Pitzer College and Claremont-McKenna College.
