The Lady Cards took two games from the visiting Malibu girls in a double-header, 1-0 and 8-2.Lauren Bustillos threw for Santa Paula in the first game, pitching a no-hitter. The winning run came in the fourth inning. Andrea Prado came home on a sacrifice fly by Janelle Perez.Santa Paula had a tough time hitting off Malibu’s pitchers, especially in the first game. It wasn’t that she was a fast pitcher, but rather that she threw much slower than the Cardinal batters were accustomed to.Jalena Martinez was on the mound for the second game and gave Malibu only three hits and struck out 14. She also helped out at bat, going 3-3 and scored twice.
The Lady cards are now 10-1 in Frontier League play and 20-3 for the season. They meet a tough team today at Calabasas, in their final league game.(We’ll have pictures and more in next Wednesday’s edition on the outgoing seniors from the team)
