Raymond Medina Valdivia Raymond Medina Valdivia, age 54, of Hesperia,California passed away Friday, December 15, 2000 at home following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.Mr. Valdivia was born in Teocaltiche, Jalisco on December 1, 1946 and was a resident of Santa Paula for 20 years before moving to Corona, California, where he helped operate Valdivia & Sons Snow Cones. He later moved to Hesperia, but continued to work in Corona for All-American Asphalt.Ray enjoyed listening to Native American music, writing poems, carving, and telling jokes - he had a wonderful sense of humor that will be missed by all. Ray was also very active in the Catholic Church.He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Julia Valdivia of Hesperia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marizela and Adolfo Martinez of Hesperia, Marizol and Analdo Hernandez of Corona, and Diana and David Moreno of Hesperia; son and daughter-in-law Raymond Jr. and Teresita Valdivia of Apple Valley; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Manuel Gonzalez of Corona, Irma and Luis Luviano of Hesperia, and Vicenta and Robert Morua of Ventura; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Adrian and Erma Valdivia, Gonzalo Jr. and Christina Valdivia of Oxnard, Isidro and Elda Valdivia of Santa Paula, Andy and Frances Valdivia of San Fernando, and Jose and Elvira Valdivia of Perris; nine grandchildren who truly loved him and will miss him dearly; 13 nieces and 15 nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Gonzalo G. Valdivia, in 1994 and by his mother, Esther M. Valdivia, in 1990.A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 22 at Holy Family Church, 9974 “I” Avenue, Hesperia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Maria Valdivia, 9334 9th Ave., Hesperia, CA 92345.Arrangements are under the direction of Desert View Memorial in Hesperia.Sharon Rae WilliamsSharon Rae Williams, age 53, of Santa Paula, passed away December 15, 2000 in Ventura following a brief illness. She was born January 20, 1947 in Santa Paula and was a lifelong county resident.A homemaker for 36 years, she was always a kind and loving person. She would take in human or animals, it didn’t make a difference. They were all the same to her and were taken care of. She will always be missed by those who met her.She is survived by her daughters, Oma Winter and Shery Thein, both of Oregon; son Jody Williams of Oregon; mother, Helen Partch of Oregon; sister Lori Palmer of Oregon; grandchildren, Christopher Winter, Sherry Winter, Sarah Williams, Joey Williams, Joshua Thein and Jordan Thein; numerous nieces and nephew; and Billie June Proudfoot, a long time mother-in-law who now resides in El Paso, Texas - she will always love her, as us all.
Graveside services were held December 20 at Santa Paula Cemetery, the Rev. Mark Fisk officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, Santa Paula.Franklin C. PriceFranklin C. Price died December 16, 2000 in Santa Paula, where he had been a resident since 1988. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 8, 1927 to Chester and Mildred Price.He joined the Navy in 1945 and served aboard the destroyer USS Hollister. In 1948, he married Miriam Unterberg and worked for Benjamin Moore Paint. Music was his passion, as he played drums, vibes, trumpet and flute at clubs throughout Chicago.In 1958 he relocated to Santa Barbara, and in 1960 moved to San Francisco where he played Dixieland jazz at Big Al’s Gas House, at Candlestick Park for the 49ers, and at many clubs in the Bay area. He also worked as controller for Argonaut Insurance. Following a stroke in 1976, he returned to Santa Barbara where he rehabilitated and enjoyed a new passion in golf and, more recently, a renewed ability to play his drums.He was preceded in death by his brothers, Chester and Don Price, and sister Francis Murphy. He is survived by his constant companion for 19 years, Billie Radcliffe of Santa Paula; his daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and James Dunford of Santa Barbara and Janice and James Ridgley of Heron, Montana; and his grandchildren, Aaron and Rachel Dunford, Blu Collins, Carol Dunford, and Jane Ridgley.A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 7 at 15711 W. Telegraph Rd., Santa Paula, at 12 noon. Remembrances in his name may be made to Santa Clara Valley Hospice, P.O. Box 365, Santa Paula, CA 93061, or to the Channel Cities Jazz Society, P.O.
