Cardinal J2 team wins first playoff game

The Santa Paula J2 Cardinals defeated the Ventura Buc’s 8-6 in the first round playoff game last weekend.
The Santa Paula J2s prevailed over Ventura in the first round of Gold Coast Youth Football League playoff games. Leading the Santa Paula defense was Corey Peck, Diego Hinojosa, Jesse Obiols, Matt Shide, Jaron Fonseca, Tim Garcia and Rami Montano. Fonseca had an interception with a 70-yard return.The Cardinal offense was led by Fonseca who scored on an 18-yard run late in the fourth quarter to tie up the game. Shide converted the 2-point conversion to take the lead.The offensive line was led by center Manuel Claudio. Reece McCalister, Jerry Morales, Diego Hinojosa and Phillip Arellano were also on the line. Also on offense were Scott Black, Nick Valerio, Junior Nava, Aldo Magana and Guillermo Arguello.
