Dolores May Bidwell Dolores May Bidwell, age 75, of Oxnard, died on November 3, 2000 after a lengthy illness. She was born on October 28, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri, and attended Kansas City schools.Formerly a resident of Ventura and Santa Paula, Mrs. Bidwell worked for nearly two decades as a bookkeeper for the Ventura County Medical Center and another 13 years for the Santa Paula School District.She was preceded in death by her husband, William Addison Bidwell, a long time member of the parade unit for the Santa Paula-Fillmore Shrine Club. She was also active in Shrine activities.Survivors include a daughter, Carol Bidwell of Thousand Oaks; three sons, William Bidwell of Newbury Park, Charles Bidwell of Las Vegas, Nevada and James Bidwell of Ventura; daughter-in-law Lisa Gilmer Bidwell of Newbury Park; grandchildren Kristen and Scott Bidwell of Santa Paula; step-grandchildren Laura and Scott Gilmer of Newbury Park; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary Jane and Marion Chapman of Ventura.A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 11 at Pierce Brothers Stetler Chapel.Assisting the family with funeral arrangements is Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary, Santa Paula.Sergio MendozaSergio Mendoza, age 28, of Santa Paula, passed away November 4, 2000 following an auto accident. He was born on August 28, 1972 in Coeneo, Michoacan, Mexico, and was a 15-year Santa Paula resident. He was an employee of the Asplundh Tree Expert Co.Sergio will be remembered as a wonderful, outgoing young man. He was a very caring and understanding, hardworking person who was devoted to helping others. He always carried a smile on his face.Sergio was always a very devoted husband, father and son. There are not enough words in this world to describe what a beautiful person he once was.He is preceded in death by his brother, Jaime Mendoza. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Rebeca Mendoza; their son, Randy Mendoza; his parents, Gumaro and Melania Mendoza; brother Gilbert Mendoza; nephews, Gilbert Jr. and Fabian; sister Laura and brother-in-law Eduardo; sisters Esperanza and Marisela Mendoza; brother Sijifredo Mendoza; grandparents Juan and Evelia Vargas, Margarita and Herasmo Tellez; mother- and father-in-law Juana and Manuel Perales; and his brother-in-law Luis Perales Jr. He will also be missed by numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandmother from his wife’s side of the family.“May God keep you in His glory.”Mass will be held on Friday, November 10 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Paula, followed by burial at Santa Paula Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Brothers Mortuary, Santa Paula.Patricia Paris McGowanPatricia Paris McGowan, age 74, of Santa Paula, passed away November 4, 2000 following a lengthy illness.Mrs. McGowan was born December 12, 1925 in New York, New York, and was a county resident for eight years, coming from Lancaster. She was a singer/entertainer.She is survived by her husband, Donald McGowan of Santa Paula.Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 19 at the Oaks Mobile Estates Clubhouse, 1500 Richmond Rd., Santa Paula. Burial is private.Arrangements are under the direction of Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, Santa Paula.James Millard FelkinsJames Millard Felkins, age 93, died peacefully in his home on November 4, 2000 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Burkesville, Kentucky on August 5, 1907.Mr. Felkins brought his family to Santa Paula in 1935. He owned and operated Felkins Texaco Service Station, west of town, for many years before retiring in 1972. He was an avid fisherman and hunter until his later years, when his hobbies changed to gardening and baseball (Dodgers).James was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Santa Paula, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.He leaves sons Jim (wife Cheryl) Felkins and Randy (wife Frankie) Felkins of Santa Paula, and Bob (wife Sue) Felkins of Sweethome, Oregon; daughter Mackie Lindsey of Oxnard; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Ella Ray, and a grandson, Steven Felkins; both passed away in 1996.James was loved very much; his family, friends and good neighbors will sorely miss his keen mind and sense of humor.The family is grateful to Dr. David Stegman and to Becky Walkup of Santa Paula Hospice for the wonderful care they provided. The family would also like to thank Martha and Ray Nava for being such good neighbors.

Joanna was born July 26, 1979 in Ventura.She is survived by her father, Jose Luis Orozco of Santa Paula; mother, Ruth Garcia of Santa Paula; brothers, Carlos, Armando, Joey, Jesse and Felix Orozco, all of Santa Paula; and sister Christina Orozco of Santa Paula.My Strength, My FortressIn troubled times - I turn to God.He is my refuge from the storm,and in the shelter of His arms -I feel secure and warm.He is my strength, my fortress,my warmth when I am cold,and when I reach out I findHis hand for mine to hold.Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on November 13 at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church in Santa Paula. A prayer service will follow at 12 p.m., with burial at Pierce Brothers Cemetery in Santa Paula.Arrangements are under the direction of Garcia Mortuary, Oxnard.Lawanna B. RudolphLawanna B. Rudolph, age 84, of Paradise, passed away November 7, 2000 at her residence. She was born January 13, 1916 in Preston, Missouri, and had only recently moved to Paradise from Santa Paula, where she had lived in the same home for 60 years.Lawanna was a loving wife and mother, and enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a good sense of humor, and also enjoyed crafts, playing cards, gardening, reading, and American Indian artifacts.She was a member and supporter of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Santa Paula for 50 years. She found the most joy in helping others, and never hesitated to offer her time and talents to those in need. She helped raise her three younger brothers, and was a caretaker of many infirm relatives and friends over the years.Living in the same Santa Paula home for 60 years, Lawanna developed very special friendships with her neighbors, and considered them her family.In addition to her husband of 64 years, Sanford, she is survived by a son, Patrick Rudolph of Protem, Missouri; daughter Mary Lou Snyder of Paradise; brother Albert Edde of Florence, Oregon; brother Frank Edde of Santa Paula; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.A memorial service was held at her daughter’s home in Paradise.
