He is survived by his son, Patrick Rudolph of Protem, Missouri; his daughter, Mary Lou Snyder of Paradise; and numerous nieces and nephews.A private memorial service will be held at the Sunshine House in Paradise, CA. Sanford W. Rudolph
Sanford W. Rudolph, age 96, passed away on September 13, 2007 in Paradise, California. He was born June 27, 1911 in Santa Paula. His wife, Lawanna, predeceased him in 2000.Sanford lived most of his life in Santa Paula. He and Lawanna built the first FHA insured home there, and had to educate and convince the bankers that the program would work.He was a pilot and aircraft mechanic as a young man, and worked for Lockheed and Kenner Aviation on Catalina Island during World War II. He later worked as a truck mechanic until he retired. He and his wife moved to Paradise in 2000 to be near their daughter.He was a train enthusiast, and loved all aspects of steam locomotives and model trains. His children remember him as a man of immense patience, especially when teaching them to fish, ride bikes, and drive. He was also famous as the Dad who could build anything and fix everything.For over 50 years he was a member and supporter of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Santa Paula. His neighbors in Santa Paula and his friends at the Sunshine House in Paradise recall a kind, compassionate man who was always ready to lend a helping hand.
