Amgen/FLAIR - a Rx for success

The Amgen Foundation has awarded a $2,500 grant to FLAIR, Blanchard Library’s Literacy Program. This grant will be used to partially fund FLAIR’s Parenting Program for the coming year. This program is another component of Families For Literacy and is designed to provide guidelines in parenting skills to any adult who functions in a parental capacity. The curriculum, facilitator’s training and instructional resources for this program were developed and provided by the the Families For Literacy California state consultant.The Parenting Program, Families For Literacy, Adult Education and volunteer tutors for elementary school children at risk of failing are free to participants who need these services. It is through donations and grants such as the one just received from Amgen that these programs can continue to operate. The Amgen Foundation gives generously to non-profit public service organizations in Ventura County.
