John L. Buster John L. Buster was born in Santa Paula to Edmond and Emma Lee Johnston Buster on August 4, 1926. He passed away on April 21, 2000 in Midland, Texas, following a brief illness.John completed his early education at McKevett and Isbell Grammar schools and graduated from Santa Paula Union High School with the Class of 1943. Following graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy V12 program at UCLA. When World War II was finished he completed his education at the University of California at Berkeley, majoring in geology.John spent most of his adult life in the community of Midland, Texas, where he was a consultant for an oilfield service company.John married Beth Newcomb of Ventura, who passed away March 25, 1994. he leaves two children, Tom of Austin, Texas and Merilee of San Francisco; and three grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Ed Buster of Santa Ana.Graveside inurnment will be held at Santa Paula Cemetery on Saturday, May 6 at 11 a.m.Edna Mae Stevens
Edna Mae Stevens, age 84, of Ridgecrest, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2000 in Ridgecrest.Mrs. Stevens was born in Lewis, Iowa on June 25, 1915. She was a 25-year Kern County resident, and a former Santa Paula resident. She was a homemaker.She is survived by a son, John Stevens of Concord; daughters, Shirlee Stevens, Marjorie Wilson and Judith Wilson, all of Ridgecrest; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Stevens; son Gerald Allen Stevens; and brothers, Floyd Smith, Ivan Smith and Eugene Smith.Graveside services were held April 29 at Santa Paula Cemetery, the Reverend Kenneth Bevel officiating.Arrangements under the direction of Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary, Santa Paula.
