Simon R. Hernandez, Jr.
Simon R. “Mon” Hernandez, Jr. went home to be with our Lord on April 13, 2000 after an eight-year battle with multiple sclerosis.Mon was born on May 7, 1951 in Ventura to Simon R. Hernandez and Lily Garcia Hernandez of Santa Paula. He served in the U.S. Army and received a medical discharge in 1971. He was a cement mason for many years with the Plasterers & Cement Masons Local No. 741.He is survived by his sons, Jason Hernandez of Santa Paula and Michael Hernandez of Ventura; daughter Rose Anna of Houston, Missouri; parents, Simon R. Hernandez and Lily G. Hernandez of Santa Paula; brothers and sisters, Daniel G. Hernandez and his wife Anna of Oxnard, Enriquetta Diaz of Santa Paula, Herminia Marquez and her husband Raul of Santa Paula, Manuel G. Hernandez and his wife Sylvia of Ventura, Leonard G. Hernandez and his wife Gloria of Santa Paula, and Matias G. Hernandez and his wife Maria of Ventura; grandchildren, Jasmine, Joseph and Madison; 14 nieces and nephews; his best friend, Rudy Alamillo of Santa Paula; uncle and confidant Tony Garcia of Ventura; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.Funeral mass was held April 18 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Santa Paula, with burial following at Santa Paula Cemetery.His love of music will always be with us, and he will forever live in our hearts. We love you brother, save us a place.
